This is so not a serious post by any means.
On tuesdays my daughter is in school and my son goes to daycare. At the moment I am on Uni break so I usually do my husbands business paperwork but today I decided to go and see a movie. Transformers 3 to be exact.
Now up til now all I have heard about this movie was how shite it was. How Michael Bay needs to stop making Transformer movies and how ridiculous the storyline was. It didn't matter, I have liked many movies that not many people have seemed too impressed by and I wanted to see this.
Now my expectations from this movie were the same as I have for any action movie. Great action scenes, awesome special effects, the hot military guy (of course for men there should be the hot chick), a love story, some comedy and a storyline that is enough to be good but not too much to require a lot of thought.
I go to the movies to relax. I want to kick back, drink my coke, eat my popcorn and chill out. Escape from the daily grind if you will.
Why would you go to a movie like Transformers with any other expectations??
This movie delivered on everything I wanted. I totally enjoyed it for what it was and you know what? I would watch it again. I was a mad keen Transformers fan as a kid and still get the shivers when I hear the "transforming" sound that has been used since the show first began. I hope they make another movie. I really do.
So I think all those that panned it need to remember why they watch this sort of movie. They need to remember that not every movie has to have an intricate plot and a major twist at the end. Not every movie needs a crowd that is on the edge of their seats waiting for the next 'big thing'. Just enjoy it for what it is, stop having expectations that are far too high.
